Alfaro Family Vineyards ~ 2011 Pinot Noir

Come taste the difference - our Estate grown and bottled Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah and unique Gruner Veltliner reflect the unique terrior of Corralitos, at the southern end of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation.

We are proud to announce 8 of our 56 acres under vine is CCOF Certified Organic. Voted "Best Local Winery" 2012 and 2013 by Good Times Magazine readers' poll.

2011 Pinot Noir is deep ruby in color, medium bodied with an explosion of fruit on the nose, chock-full of bright cherry and raspberry flavors on the palate. Complex and well-balanced. Aged 19 months in 33% new French oak, 140 cases produced.

Loma Prieta Winery ~ 2010 Pinotage, Karma Vineyards, Lodi & 2012 Pinot Noir, Saveria Vineyard, Santa Cruz Mountains

Well-deserving of the descriptor “boutique,” Loma Prieta makes fewer than 3k cases yearly, yet has single handedly become the largest producer of Pinotage in North America. Set at 2,600 feet on Loma Prieta Way off the Summit Road exit of Highway 17, Loma Prieta is named for the flat-topped mountain that towers to the southeast.

It is here, in the shadow of this iconic peak known for being the epicenter of the 1989 earthquake that bears its name, that you will find one of the most beautiful wineries in all of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Views are mesmerizing in every direction, and you can see the entire Monterey Peninsula and watch waves crashing on the Santa Cruz coastline. It’s the only regulation bocce course in the mountains where you might spot whales.

There are very few wineries worldwide making Pinotage, the signature grape of South Africa, where more acres of it exist than anywhere on the planet. Here in California, Loma Prieta makes more Pinotage than any other single winery, and is the only one to be making single vineyard designates from the grape.

Loma Prieta also produces award-winning Pinot Noir from the Santa Cruz Mountains, as well as Chardonnay, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet and Petite Sirah. The 2010 Petite Sirah was chosen Best Red of Show at the 2013 Florida International Wine Competition. Visit the winery every weekend from 12pm-5pm, and be prepared to be blown away by the scenery, the views and the wines.

Costanoa Lodge ~ 2-Night Stay in a Bungalow

Costanoa is an eco-adventure resort located in Pescadero, California and very close to Ano Nuevo. It is designed to encourage guests to explore the stunning beauty of our protected California coastline.

Enjoy a two-night stay in one of Costanoa’s Pine Village Bungalows, a beautiful canvas tent with no heat. These have one double bed and one twin bed with bedding, towels, electric lights, locking door and windows, alarm clock, and a pair of Adirondack chairs. All Pine Tent Bungalows come equipped with a small personal fire pit.

Costanoa does NOT provide wood for the Pine Village Tent Bungalows. You may bring your own or synthetic wood is available for purchase in the General Store. Keep in mind that Costanoa is located in an ecologically sensitive area. For your safety, there are times when-due to weather conditions and/or wind-WE WILL NOT ALLOW FIRES. Since our first vintage in 1999, Windy Oaks driving objective has been to produce world-class Pinot Noir that faithfully represents our unique vineyard terroir, with no compromises. Our winemaking begins in our vineyards, which we farm in a fully sustainable way, using many organic and biodynamic practices.

In the winery, our philosophy is to use a minimal intervention approach to fully preserve the grape quality achieved in our vineyards. Nothing is rushed—every effort is made to let the wine evolve naturally to its best expression. Hence, the winery is all-gravity, wines are aged on their lees in French oak for 17 to 27 months, and all wines are bottled without filtering or fining

All of our pinot noirs are unfiltered and unfined, ensuring the purest expression of the grape. Because pinot noir is such a delicate grape, we do not use pumps; we use 100% gravity during harvest, crush, press, and bottling, to preserve the subtle nuances of the wine. And half of the fermentation bins are done with indigenous yeast.
